DHAKA: Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Saturday observed that effective dialogue is the only way to get rid of the prevailing political crisis.
The former President made the observation while addressing a discussion meeting titled ‘National Talks to Way out of Current Political Crisis’, organized by Good Governance Forum, at the National Press Club in city.
Indicating Sheikh Hasina, B Chowdhury said, “She (Hasina) held talks with Santu Larma (Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma) to bring peace in the hills. But why can’t she sit for talks with Khaleda Zia now?”
He also urged both BNP and ruling Awami League leaders to take every possible step with a view to stopping present political crisis.
Criticizing government move to snap electricity, gas, and internet and cable connection of Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office, former President termed the act as “black spot” of the history of country’s politics.
He also said the problem could be solved if a mass upsurge takes place but people are not taking positions on roads fearing bullets.
Addressing the function, convener of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna said, “The political violence has reached at a point where none can guarantee the safe return of SSC candidates at home.”
Convener of Good Governance Forum Justice Sikder Makbul Haque presided over the discussion meeting.
Former Minister Dr Mizanur Rahman Shelly, former state minister Golam Sarwar Milon, bangla daily Amader Arthoneeti editor Naimul Islam Khan, Dhaka University Professor Sukomal Barua and Advocate Tasnim Rana also spoke at the program.
