FENI: Pickets set fire to two vehicles and vandalized 10 more in the district town on Sunday morning, first day of the BNP-led 20-party alliance-enforced countrywide 72-hour hartal.
Witnesses said that a group of the alliance supporters brought out a brisk procession on Trunk Road of the town around 9:00am and vandalized six CNG-run auto rickshaws there.
Pickets also vandalized four trucks and set two of them on fire in Takia Bazar at the same time.
On information, district additional superintendent of police Saiful Haque and Feni Model Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Mahbub Morshed visited the spots.
No casualty and detention were reported.
However, the alliance has been observing a 72-hour hartal across the country since Sunday morning, supplemented by their road-water-railway blockade for indefinite period.
The hartal was enforced protesting the threats by ruling Awami League leaders to arrest BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and evacuate her from Gulshan political office.
