DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday placed BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a 3-day remand in a case filed for vandalism, attempt to murder and arson attack.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj passed the order after Sub-Inspector (SI) Mosharraf Hossain of Badda Thana and also investigation officer of the case produced him before the court in the afternoon.

Rizvi has been made accused for instigating the sabotage.

The case statement said some pro-blockaders halted a bus of Anabil Paribahan in front of PRAN RFL office in Badda.

They vandalized and torched the bus and also tried to kill the vehicle’s passengers, driver and helper.

Earlier on Saturday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Rizvi from a house in city’s Baridhara area and handed over to the Badda Thana.

Later, the BNP senior leader was taken to the DB office in city’s Mintoo road for interrogation.
