FENI: Police in a drive on Sunday detained 12 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student affiliate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, along with bomb-making materials.

Among the detainees, four are examinees of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, set to begin from February 4.

However, the identities of others could not be known immediately.

Sources said that Feni Model Thana police held the Shibir-men in the afternoon.

They were held from two Shibir-run messes located at Rampur and Pathanbari areas of the town, sources added.

Confirming the matter, respective thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbub Hossain said police also seized petrol and other bomb-making materials while detaining them.

Without providing details, the OC further said, “Of the detainees, four are the examinees of upcoming SSC examinations.”
