DHAKA: BNP-led 20-party alliance has extended hartal till 6:00pm Thursday (January 5) protesting case against the party leaders, including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed made the disclosure through a press release on Tuesday.

The release said the hartal has been extended till Thursday evening protesting the mass killing by joint forces, indiscriminate murder, kidnaps, attacks and mass arrest of 20-party alliance leaders.

BNP spokes person also added that the alliance would also protest attacks on journalists and repression on the media, government’s interference on judiciary system, false cases against BNP-led 20-party alliance leaders, including BNP chairperson and prominent citizens.

He also said as the incumbent government did not announce to press home the mass demand yet, the party extended the hartal.

Earlier, the alliance announced 72-hour countrywide hartal from Sunday protesting the same incidents.
