DHAKA: Former Awami League lawmaker Golam Maula Rony has joined BNP formally Monday (Nov 26), ahead of the 11th parliamentary election.
He went to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s political office in Gulshan, in the evening.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo and BNP organising secretary Shama Obaid, among others, were present in the press briefing.
“Golam Maula Rony got included in the battle; the battle we are doing for democracy’s sake. So, the movement has become accelerated,” said Fakhrul.
“We are delighted as he joined BNP,” he added.
Rony said he has resigned from Awami League from his own conscience.
“I will stay involved in BNP’s politics forever,” he said.
