DHAKA: The death warrant for Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam reached Dhaka Central Jail on Monday (March 16) noon.
International Criminal Tribunal Registrar Sayeed Ahmed confirmed the matter.
Earlier on Sunday (March 8th), the Supreme Court spokesman Mohammad Saifur Rahman said the copy of the verdict had been sent to the International Crimes Tribunal.
However, ATM Azhar's lawyer, Shishir Monir, said that I will review the official verdict.
Sources said the warrant reached Gazipur’s Kashimpur jail around 2:00pm. It will be readout later.
On December 30, 2014, ICT-1 sentenced Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam death for committing crimes against humanity in Rangpur during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
