DHAKA: The prison authorities read out the death warrant to condemned Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam at Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur on Tuesday (March 17). 

The death warrant was read out to him this morning, prison sources said.

The death warrant of condemned Jamaat leader reached the jail early Tuesday.

The prison authorities, however, said the condemned Jamaat leader could submit the review petition.

The ICT-1 sentenced the former Jamaat’s assistant secretary general to death on December 30, 2014, for crimes against humanity committed in Rangpur during the Liberation War.

Azharul was found guilty of five out of the six charges brought against him.

The former Jamaat leader filed the appeal against his conviction on January 28, 2015.
