DHAKA: BNP’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has finally meet the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Despite having freed on March 25, the meeting was being delayed for unknown reasons.

The meeting between the two high-ups of the party started at Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence 'Feroza' around 9:00pm and continued till 10:30pm on Monday (May 11), sources said.

She observes fasting and receives treatment in the holy month of Ramadan staying in quarantine.

Khaleda Zia was released from jail for six months upon an executive order considering her age and humanitarian ground on March 25 last.

BNP’s chief was sent to Old Dhaka Central Jail after she had been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by a special court in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8, 2018.
