The Supreme Court on Sunday upheld the High Court order that stayed the trial proceedings against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in three violence cases and a defamation case.
The apex court, however, asked the High Court to dispose of the rules issued in connection with the cases.
A three-member virtual bench of the Appellate Division, headed by senior Justice Mohammad Iman Ali, issued the orders.
Additional Attorney General Momataz Uddin Fakir moved for the state while Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon stood on behalf of the BNP chief.
