Nurjahan Begum, mother of Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, died from Covid-19 infection at a city hospital on Friday morning.

She breathed her last at around 7:00 am at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) while undergoing treatment this morning.

She was admitted to the hospital after being tested positive for the virus few days ago.

Nurjahan Begum received Ratnagarbha Awards in 2019. Her namaz-e-janaza will be held at her village home in Madaripur after Asr prayer on Friday. Later she will be buried at her family graveyard.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Nurjahan Begum. 

In a message of condolence, the premier prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
