Students' Rights Council splits, Nur declared unwanted

Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council (BGSRPC) has split after declaring its joint convenor M Rashed Khan and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur unwanted.

The council, however, formed a 22-member new committee at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday.

APM Suhel, council's joint convenor, was named as convenor and Ismail Samrat as member secretary of the new committee.

APM Suhel said the press conference was organised to protest the ill politics over people's emotion and trust, financial transparency and running the organisation in an undemocratic way stepping aside the main objectivity.

They protested a bid of politicisation of a rape case filed recently by a Dhaka University student.

They also protested the organisation's internal conflict, underestimating the grassroot workers, expulsion of tested leaders, women-related scandal, supremacy of DU syndicate and formation political party, he added.
