A leader of Swechchhasebak League, Masudur Rahman Shuvro, was hacked to death by miscreants in Gauripur upazila of Mymensingh on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at around 10:30 pm in Madhyabazar area. 

Shuvro, a resident of Kalipur area of Gauripur municipality, was the general secretary of Gauripur upazila unit Swechchhasebak League and chairman of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDP). 

Gauripur Police officer-in-charge (OC) Borhan Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said miscreants attacked Masudur Rahman with a sharp weapon when was on his way home from his political office in Madhya Bazar.

On information, police went to the spot and sent Masudur Rahman to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he died at around 12:00am at night, he said.

The OC also said police are trying to arrest those involved in the attack.
