18 party’s hartal enters day-3

DHAKA: The 60-hour non-stop hartal, called by main opposition BNP-led 18-party, entered into third consecutive day on Tuesday morning amid stray incidents of blast and arson.

Officer-in-Charge of Hazaribagh police station Mainul Islam sustained injuries in a cocktail explosion by Chhatra Shibir in city’s Dhanmondi area.

Law enforcers are kept in alert to spoil further sabotage and destructive activities by the hartal supporters.

Pickets vandalized and set on fire at a city bus of ETC Paribahan in front of Tejgaon College early Tuesday.  

Miscreants hurled cocktails toward BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the city at around 8:30am.

Violence in Second day of hartal

Six people, including Awami League activist, 2 BNP leaders, a BNP activist, a truck driver and a teen-aged passer-by, were killed in separate violence in Tangail, Jamalpur, Chittagong, Chandpur, Jhenaidah, Kishoeganj on Monday.

Violence in first day of hartal

At least six people, including one activist of Jamaat-e-Islami and three BNP and two Jubo League men, were killed in separate hartal violence in Pirojpur, Faridpur, Pabna, Jessore, Bogra and Narayanganj on Sunday.

The opposition alliance is observing the shutdown from 6:00am Sunday (October 27) to 6.00pm Tuesday (October 29) on demand of poll-time non-party caretaker government.
