Hartal underway in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by 18-party alliance, underway in the district amid stray incidents of picketing.

Witnesses said that activists of Juba Dal, Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir attempted to picketing in Madrasa gate, Kalur Dokan, Bazar Ghata and Fire Service Mosque area and but police dispersed the hartal supporters.

Meanwhile, no serious violence or picketing was reported from eight upazilas of the district.

Though the services of small vehicles remained normal but services of all types of long route vehicles remained stopped due to hartal.

Cox’s Bazar Additional Police Super Tofael Ahmed told banglanews, “Additional law enforcers were deployed in various important places of the district to avert any untoward situation.”

Earlier, 18-party alliance called the hartal protesting the killing incident during clash between BNP procession and Police-BGB.
