Classes resume once demands met

DHAKA: Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) secretary general Dr ASM Maksud Kamal said classes at public universities will resume once demands of teachers are met.

He made the assertion while talking to reporters during teachers’ work stoppage demanding fulfillment of the promises under the 8th National Pay Scale and removal of discrimination.

Dr Maksud Kamal said, ‘Our demands are logical. We will return to class right now if these logical demands are met. We will withdraw the ongoing demonstration.’

He said, ‘It can be compared with the world if teachers in Bangladesh are given the due respect. However, the government has also responsibilities how the country wants to present its teachers before the world.’
