MPs can’t head edu institution bodies

DHAKA: Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) upheld High Court verdict that MPs cannot head governing or managing bodies of non-government educational institutions.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha rejected petitions filed by the government side and Viqarunnisa Noon School and College against the HC verdict.

On June 1, the HC, in response of writ petitions, termed illegal the inclusion of MPs as heads in the managing committees or governing bodies of the non-government schools and colleges.
