DHAKA: High Court directed the government to formulate a specific law within six months prohibiting carrying schoolbags that weigh more than 10 percent of their weight.

The government was also asked to issue a circular in 30 days with necessary instructions for the school authorities in this regard. 

The HC bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das came up with directives in response to a writ petition filed by three SC lawyers.

As per order, authorities concerned will also take necessary steps against offenders.
