DHAKA: BRAC University (BRACU) has been ranked top among all the private universities in Bangladesh, in a research jointly run by online news portal Bangla Tribune and english daily Dhaka Tribune.

The research was directed by ORG-Quest Research Ltd.

A total of 32 universities were selected for their excellence in better service among the 83 private universities, in the initial phase.

Of them, 20 varsities have been placed in the final list.

The research report cited that the final ranking was made based on the combined information and data on factual and perceptual facts.

University Grants Commission (UGC) contributed factual data for the year 2014, while conducting the research.

Quality of the faculties, services received by the students, research & learning materials have been used as the Factual indexes in the research.

Factual data counted as 40% while Perceptual data 60%, while preparing the total score for a university.

Besides, a survey was run upon the academics of the universities (i.e. dean, department head, professors, and registrar) and the officials of the Human resource sections of the job-giving bodies, which was counted as Perceptual scores.

The survey was conducted upon a total of 300 persons—150 academics and 150 Human resources managers. Besides, 327 teachers and 320 job-givers were invited to participate in the survey where the response rate was earned 46% for the teachers while 47% for the job-givers.

The report shows that BRAC University (BRACU) achieved highest score of 80.63 point in Factual while North South University (NSU) earned top 62.84 point in Perceptual.
