Police search at JU after blast threat

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Ashulia thana police conducted a search at the Old Registrar Building of Jahangirnagar University (JU), in wake of a threat of blast from an unknown source to the varsity authority.

The law enforcers conducted the search for 1.5 hours, 11:00am-12:30pm Saturday (November 11).

DSB Official M Selim told Banglanews that the safety search was carried out, responding to a complaint of the varsity administration.

“Nothing suspicious was found. Search will be carried out at the New Registrar Building Sunday morning (November 12)”, he said.

Earlier, a JU staff found a letter at the storey of administrative building that reads: “Current Vice Chancellor Farzana Islam isn’t doing fair while running administrative operations. Therefore, the (varsity) administration should be rearranged in wide array, by 5-9 (December). Otherwise, the new and old administrative buildings will be exploded.”

Immediately after that, JU authority filed a General Diary (GD) with Ashulia Police Station Thursday (November 9), said Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Awal.
