DHAKA: Pragatishil Chhatra Jote, an alliance of leftist student organisations, called a strike for January 29 in all the educational institutions across the country protesting the attack on Dhaka University students by leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Imran Habib, coordinator of the Jote, announced the program at a press conference in DU Madhur Canteen on Wednesday (January 24).

The protest program also includes a solidarity rally at DU Raju memorial sculpture on Friday (Jan 26) and countrywide demonstration on Jan 28.

Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Somajtantrik Chhatra Front and other left wing students’ organizations were also present at the press conference. 

Earlier on January 23, several students were injured in an attack carried out by BCL activists and leaders in DU campus.
