JU demands withdrawal of Matia Chy’s remarks Protesting students at the rally, on JU campus

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU), who are protesting over quota system, demanded Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury to withdraw her Monday’s remark that ‘hurts the sentiment of youths’.

Students announced the demand from a protest rally, on the Shaheed Minar premises of JU campus, around 1:00pm Tuesday (April 10).

Khan Muntasir Arman, JU faction convener of the quota reformation movement, told the rally that Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury has to withdraw her comment that she made at the Jatiya Sangsad session against the quota movement demonstrators, within three days.

He demanded justice for police action on Monday’s demonstration at the campus.

However, some 50 students were injured as police charged batons, used tear gas, water canon and rubber bullet while students blocked Dhaka-Aricha Highway before their campus in Savar, demanding reformation of the quota system in government jobs.
