DHAKA: Demonstrating students have given Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the title of ‘Mother of Education’ for scrapping quota system in public service.

Students made the announcement at a press briefing at Raju Sculpture, adjacent to TSC, Dhaka University on Thursday (April 12).

After days of demonstrations countrywide, premier stated on Wednesday that there would be no more quotas for government jobs in future while addressing at parliament.

“We thank the prime minister. Besides, we are demanding that the government publish a gazette of Prime Minister’s announcement. Till then we call off our demonstration.” Hasan Al Mamun, convener of the platform, said in a short speech at the briefing

Sheikh Hasina was given this honor for her stance in education.
