Quota demo: DU,RU,JU students call for gazette Students holding rally at DU campus

DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Students of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Jahangirnagar universities staged demonstration again demanding gazette publication regarding abolition of quota system in public services and withdrawing the cases filed during the quota movement.

As per announcement, DU students brought out a procession from DU Central Library area around 11:30 am on Sunday (May 13).

Thousands of students under the banner of Bangladesh General Students' Right Protection Council participated in the rally.

The rally, led by convener Hasan Al Mamun, joint convener Rashed Khan and Nurul Haque Nur, went around DU premises. 

They were chanting slogans: “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu, ‘Publish gazette soon,’ ‘Materialize Sheikh Hasina’s declaration,’ ‘No inequality in Bangabandhu’s Bangla,’ No inequality in Sheikh Hasina’s Bangla,’ Movement can’t be hampered by attack,’ ‘Gazette have to be published soon.”

Meanwhile, an allegation was charged against Al-Amin, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall unit of BCL at DU, who led an attack on quota protesters on the night of Saturday (May 12).

Protesters were seen holding various placards demanding punishment of this incident.

Earlier on Saturday (May 12), convener Hasan Al Mamun declared in a press conference, called for demonstration in every school and university on Sunday.

In Rajshahi University, a procession circled around university premises like DU. In Jahangirnagar University, students boycotted class from 11 am to 1 pm.  Around 200 students joined the protest rally.
