Question gets leaked in technology era: Nahid

FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Giving examples of question paper leakage in other countries like Singapore and India, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the leaks are not that uncommon and happens more or less everywhere in the age of technology.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a parliament session on Thursday (June 28).

Nahid also rejected a report of a rumored statement where it was claimed that Nahid said ‘Ministers take bribe too’. In a response, he said, “It is a false propaganda. I urge you not to misjudge me; I want your compassion on this.”

On the other hand, nine lawmakers of the opposition Jatiya party have opposed the FY 18-19 budget allocation for Secondary and Higher Secondary Division proposing a slash.

One JP lawmaker Fakhrul Imam said budget allocation for education sector needs to be increased but the education ministry has failed to take necessary steps after reports emerged that GPA-5 is being traded inside it. Nothing is worse than this. So there should be no more allotment for the ministry until problems are getting solved.

In response, Nahid said, “One TV channel reported that GPA-5 is being traded inside the ministry. However, no evidence of such wrongdoing has been found yet. Even so we have formed two probe bodies over the matter and waiting for reports. We don’t try to suppress when such blistering allegation comes forward. We make it public. I am not denying the allegation yet; I am saying it is unjust to blame the whole thing directly on the ministry.”
