Tk 4316cr deal with WB to improve Bangladesh education Officials sign the contract.

DHAKA:  Bangladesh signed a contract of $520 million (Tk 4316 crore) with World Bank to improve the quality of secondary education and education system.

The contract was signed between Bangladesh government and World Bank in the NEC conference room of city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Monday (August 13).

Kazi Shafiqul Azam, secretary of Economic Relations Division (ERD) signed on behalf of Bangladesh government while Rajsree Paralakar, Acting Country Director of Dhaka Office signed for World Bank.

Two contracts, $510 million for Transforming Secondary Education for Result Operation (TSERO) project, and the rest of $10 million for Global Financing Facility, were signed.

The Education Ministry is taking an integrated project to achieve sustainable results.

Rajsree Paralakar said, “It is an integrated project for education. Hopefully, 13 million students will be benefited. Bangladesh has shown tremendous success in education sector over the last few years.”
