KHULNA:  A schoolgirl was killed and 30 others suffered injuries when a picnic bus plunged into ditch on Satkhira-Khulna road in Dumuria upazila on Monday (Feb 11) morning. 

The deceased was identified as Meghla, a class-VIII student of Shyamnagar Secondary Girl High School in Sadar upazila of Jessore. 

The accident took place around 11:30am when one of three picnic buses hired by the school, heading towards Shat Gambuj Mosque in Bagerhat, turned turtle and plunged into roadside ditch, leaving one dead on the spot and injured others, said Aminul Islam, officer in charge of Dumuria Police Station.

The injured were taken to Upazila Health Complex and later critically injured have been shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
