Honors now mandatory for female primary teachers

DHAKA: The government has introduced new guidelines for recruitment of teachers in government primary schools, fixing honors as minimum qualification of female candidates for teaching jobs.

Besides, the age limit for the positions of head teacher and assistant teacher has been fixed between 21 and 30 years.

The guidelines also demand recruitment of 20 percent candidates for science subject.

Amending previous rules in the recruitment of teachers, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education issued 'Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules, 2019.' 

According to new guidelines, honors with minimum second class or equal CGPA from any recognized university has been set to be eligible to apply for the post of assistant teacher or headmaster of government primary schools. 

The government formulated the last Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules on September 3 of 2013.
