NAOGAON: Two people were killed in lightning strikes in Manda upazila on Monday morning as an inclement weather persists over the country amid rain coupled with gales of wind.

The dead were identified as Mallika, 30, wife of Naser Ali of Chakbaban village, and Qamruzzaman, 28, of Uttar Kalikapur.

Witnesses said a thunderbolt struck Mallika at about 8am while working at the courtyard of her house, killing her instantly.

Qamruzzaman also was killed in the lightning strikes at the same time while working in his paddy field.
