A Dhaka court today (September 20) placed Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mashiur Rahman on seven-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of trader Abdul Wadud in capital's New Market area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the order as police produced Mashiur before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Mashiur Rahman from the city's airport area on Thursday night.
Wadud was shot in front of New Market 1st gate on July 19. His relative Abdur Rahman filed the case with capital's New Market Police Station on August 21 against 130 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
