Former environment, forest and climate change minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury has been freed on bail he obtained in all six cases filed against him with Paltan and Khilgaon police stations.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman and Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan granted him bail in those cases.
After securing bail and completing other procedures, the former minister left the court premises by his private car this evening.
Two of the cases were lodged with Paltan police station on murder charges and four with Khilgaon police station. Of these, two were filed on murder charges and two on attempt to murder charges.
Saber was produced before the court on Tuesday, just a day after he was put on a five-day remand in a case filed with Paltan police station over the killing of BNP activist Mokbul.
On Sunday, the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police raided Saber’s residence in Gulshan and arrested him.
