DHAKA: Criticizing remarks of BNP over financing to much-talked-about Padma Bridge from the reserve money, Finance Minister AMA Muhith responded saying, saying “I don’t agree with them”.
“I don’t agree with them, It’s my business not them,” he said over the funding from reserve money to Padma Bridge.
The finance minister came up with the assertion on Tuesday before joining the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting.
Earlier on Sunday, finance minister told a representative team of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) that the country’s reserve money is increasing in a record high.
The ruling Awami League lawmaker also observed that it is a positive sign for economy. “Foreign currency will be needed from the Bangladesh Bank after issuing the work-order of Padma Bridge. The central bank will not help businessmen in that time,” he said.
BNP vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman said that the decision of the government to Padma Bridge from reserve money would be ‘imprudent’.
The BNP leader also opined that if foreign currency is used to build Padma Bridge it will hamper country’s economic development. “It is a cheat to the nation,” he claimed.
