GAZIPUR: The supervisor-in-charge of Gazipur Juvenile Development Center SM Anwarul Karim was suspended following the incident around 20 juveniles of the centre slashed themselves with blades, in protest against mismanagement by the authorities.
The Department of Social Services suspended him for the allegation of torturing 20 teen-agers.
Officer-in-Charge of Tongi Police Station Ismail Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The OC said that a five-member committee of was formed to unveil the reasons and investigation responsible person behind the incident. Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district Shahnewaj Dilruba Choudhury was made the investigation committee chief.
The High Court issued the suo moto rule asking the authorities concerned to explain within two weeks why their inaction to prevent the mismanagement at the centre should not be declared illegal.
The court came up with the action following a report published in a report under the headline "Horrible protest by 20 juveniles"
Earlier on Tuesday, the 20-teenager showed an agitation by cutting several parts of their bodies, against the torture supervisor-in-charge of the Juvenile Development Center.
However, Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali is likely to visit the place and the victims on Friday.
