DHAKA: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said that giving first priority to the Padma Bridge, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed authorities to start construction immediately.
 
The minister was addressing a reception ceremony of BCS cadre-33 batch at Engineering Institute of Bangladesh (EIB) in the city on Friday evening.
 
Obaidul Quader said, “After visiting the ongoing construction on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, I sent the Prime Minister an SMS about the progress. The PM replied that construction of the Padma Bridge must start immediately."

"We will comply with the Premier`s order and finish the  task at the earliest."
 
The minister lamented that honest and skilled workers are becoming extinct.
 
With Saifur’s Coaching Center Chairman professor Khalilur Rahman in the chair, Local Government and Rural Department (LGRD) ministry joint secretary Sultan Mahmud and Executive Director ATM Mahmud were present.
