GAZIPUR: A minor boy was burnt to death as a fire broke out at a house in Bhannara area under Kaliakair upazila of the district on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Mehedi Hasan, son of Sadek Ali, tenant of the area.

Police sources said that the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the house of Sadek Ali around 10:00pm and soon engulfed three other adjoining houses.

All inmates of the house but Mehedi, who was asleep, escaped from the fire.

Local people doused the flame before fire fighters rushed the place. Later, fire fighters recovered the charred body of Mehedi.

In-charge of Mouchak Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Syed Azharul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
