DHAKA: Two suspected robbers were killed in separate gunfights with policemen in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar and Kesabpur upazila of Jessore early Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Babul, 30, and Rojob, 42.
Banglanews Moulvibazar correspondent reports: A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight with police at a rubber garden in Kulaura upazila of the district.
Kulaura thana assistant Sub-inspector Aklima Akter said acting on tip of that a gang of robber are preparing for robbery at the garden, police team conducted drive in the area around 4:30am.
Sensing presence of lawmen, the robbers fired on them, in retaliation, police also fired back, leaving Babul shot dead on the spot.
Later, police recovered a one-barrel pistol, bullets, two choppers and grill cutting machine.
Banglanews Jessore correspondent reports:
‘Robber’ Rojob was picked up by police on Saturday night from near to his house. During interrogation, he disclosed the location of his associates. Later, police along with Rojob went to hold his cohorts and recover arms.
A gunfight ensued here between police and robbers, as robbers opened fire on lawmen.
During the time, Rojob was caught in line of fire, leaving him dead on the spot.
Confirming the matter, Kesabpur thana officer-in-charge MA Jalil told banglanews, the body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
