CHITTAGONG: At least 17 shanties were gutted at Amin colony in Amin Jute Mill area under Panchlaish Thana of the port city on Sunday morning.

The cause of fire origination could not be known yet.

Assistant Deputy Director of Chittagong fire service and civil defense department Jasim Uddin told banglanews, “On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after one-hour frantic effort.”

The fire damaged wealth worth around Tk 5 lakhs, he added.
