DHAKA: The schedule of fifth phase upazila polls will be announced this week.  

Election Commissioner M Shahnewaz made the disclosure on Sunday while talking to reporters at his office at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital.  

He told the journalists the elections commission has already announced the schedule of 374 upazila’s polls out of 487.  

The election commission would announce the schedule of the rest of the upazilas this week, he added.  

About first phase upazila polls, scheduled to be held on February 19, Shahnewaz said, “The election commission sees that the polls will be held on that day peacefully, according to detective information.”
