The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will begin selling essential commodities in Dhaka and several other areas from Sunday (Aug 10).
The sales will continue alongside its regular subsidized program for smart family cardholders, the state-run agency said in a press release on Saturday.
The programme will operate through mobile trucks in Dhaka and various districts and metropolitan areas.
In Dhaka city, 60 trucks will operate daily, while Chattogram will have 25 trucks, Gazipur six, Cumilla city three, Cumilla district 12, Dhaka district eight, and Faridpur, Patuakhali, and Bagerhat districts five each.
From August 10 to August 31, for 19 days excluding Fridays, each truck will serve up to 500 consumers daily.
Any consumer can purchase goods by showing a national identity card; a Smart Card is not required.
Prices under the scheme are set at 230 taka for two litres of edible oil, 80 taka for one kilogram of sugar, and 140 taka for two kilograms of lentils.
