DMP Commissioner visits National Eidgah

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque visited and inquired about the security system of the National Eidgah on Thursday noon for smooth holding of Eid congregation.

He also directed the law enforcers to ensure security of the devotees who would come to say their Eid prayer.

“Close-circuit cameras have been installed at 22 points in the Eidgah area. Of them, six are high-powered. Video footage will also be taken from the control room,” the city police chief told journalists about the tight security arrangements for the devotees, who include VIPs.

Besides, a special dog squared will be deployed to ensure foolproof security on the National Eidgah premises.

Some 125,000 Muslims are expected to offer Eid prayers at the national congregation. President Zillur Rahman, Speaker Advocate Abdul Hamid, Cabinet members, MPs, the Chief Justice and Justices of the Supreme Court, political leaders, diplomats from different countries in Bangladesh and high officials of the government would line up beside the commoners at the National Eidgah.

Earlier, the DMP Commissioner said all departments of the police have been put on the alert in the capital city to maintain law and order during the Eid holiday, as all are agog with preparation to celebrate the biggest Muslim festival.
