NARSINGDI: Two siblings and their cousin drowned in a water-body at Mahmudabad village under Raypura upazila Thursday, sending a shock wave through the area.

The deceased were identified as Ria Moni and Shihab Khan, daughter and son of Italian expatriate Rahad Khan, and their cousin Ripon, son of Kazal Khan.

Locals said the two siblings and their cousin went to pluck water-lily at around 11am in a nearby water-body (beel). "Later, at around 12noon, all the three children were found floating on the beel waters," says a spot account of the tragic incident.

On information, the family members of the deceased recovered and sent them to hospital, where the duty doctor declared them dead.

The villagers mourn the grim tragedy instead of celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
