The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file a case against former State Minister for Youth and Sports, Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel, citing charges of acquiring assets beyond known sources of income.
ACC Director General (Prevention), Md. Akhter Hossain, revealed today that an investigation uncovered movable and immovable assets worth over Tk 5.74 crore, with only Tk 2.8 crore accounted for through legal income sources.
Over Tk 3.65 crore was found to have been acquired beyond his declared income.
Additionally, Russel was involved in suspicious and illegal financial transactions through five bank accounts, totaling over Tk 17.5 crore, inconsistent with his known income.
Investigators also uncovered Tk 48.25 lakh in bank accounts, lacking legal justification. The ACC claims these assets were gained through criminal activities, abuse of power, and dishonesty.
