BNP to meet Chief Adviser on April 16

A BNP delegation is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus on April 16 to discuss the election roadmap and other important issues.

Earlier, the party had sought an appointment with Dr Yunus to hold talks on the upcoming national election and related matters. The date was later confirmed by the Chief Adviser’s office, according to BNP sources.

BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed was speaking to reporters on Wednesday (April 9) at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan in the capital.

He said the party will ask the Chief Adviser for a clear roadmap to hold the next parliamentary election by December this year.

“We will specifically request him to present a clear and proper roadmap to the nation before December, to remove the ongoing uncertainty,” Salahuddin said.

He said that the Election Commission has already assured BNP that it will complete all preparations by June.

“The Chief Adviser had also earlier assured us that the government is working to hold the election within December,” he said.

Due to mixed statements from different quarters, there has been confusion, and this meeting aims to seek clarity, he added.
