Half-day hartal in Rangpur ends

RANGPUR: The half-day hartal, jointly enforced by Metropolitan Shop Owners’ Association and Rangpur City Corporation, was observed in Rangpur city on Monday.

The shutdown was pressed demanding arrest of killer of Juba League leader Imran and protesting deterioration of law-and-order situation.

The long-route vehicles were not seen to leave terminals. The hartal supporters took position at important places of the metropolitan city.

Most of the shops were seen closed in support of hartal. The movements of the vehicles were hardly seen in the city streets.

No untoward incident was reported in the city during hartal hours.

However, the members of law enforcement agencies were seen alert to avert any untoward situation in the city.

The shutdown continued till 2:00pm from the morning.
