AL’s Ranu elected in Rupganj Sadar UP Abu Hosssin Bhuiyan Ranu

RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ: Awami League backed candidate Abu Hosssin Bhuiyan Ranu elected Rupganj Sadar UP election on Sunday.

Ranu got 11,705 votes with the symbol of ‘pineapple’. He had been serving as chairman for 16 years.

His opponent advocate Kabir Hossain got 9,951 votes with ‘motorcycle’ symbol.

Upazila Election Officer Omar Farukh declared the result in the upazila auditorium around 9:00pm.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Lokman Hossain was also present during the declaration.

The voting was held from 8:00am to 4:00pm at a stretch.

Sources said that the votes were cast in 100 booths of 15 polling centers across the union.

However, there are a total of 28,566 voters in the union. Of them, 14,486 are males and 14,080 are females.

A large number of law enforcers including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police, Ansar were deployed to ensure security during polling times.
