FENI: The daylong hartal, called by BNP-led 20-party, was observed loosely in Chhagalnaiya upazila of the district on Saturday.

However, no pickets were seen; no procession also was reported to be brought out in the upazila in support of the strike.

Law enforcers were seen alert in Zero Point, College Road and other important areas of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Chhagalnaiya Thana Rashed Chowdhury told banglanews that no untoward situation was reported in the upazila.

The hartal was called in protest of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s confinement at her Gulshan political office in city, opening fire to party chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman, who was also state minister for foreign affairs, and the arrest of BNP central leader Belal Ahmed.
