BHOLA: Police have nabbed BNP district unit general secretary Mohammad Faruk Mia in accusation of violence.
The local BNP leader was held Saturday afternoon during a meeting in PTI area of the district town.
Confirming the matter, Bhola police superintendent (SP) Mohammad Moniruzzaman said that Faruk Mia is accused of creating violence during hartal and nationwide ongoing blockade.
He further said that the detainee was held during a meeting at the house of a former commissioner Hossian.
At the meeting, Faruk was planning for creating violence in upcoming hartal, the SP claimed.
On a tip-off, police conducted a drive and nabbed the BNP leader from the place, he added.
The detainee is kept in police custody and will be produced before the court on Monday, the police boss informed the media.
Moreover, police held two BNP activists from the town on Saturday.
A good number of police personnel have been deployed in several important areas of the town to avert any untoward situation.
