Tight surveillance in diplomatic zone

AFTER VISTING KHALEDA’S GULSHAN OFFICE AND DIPLOMATIC ZONE: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) authorities have tightened surveillance in diplomatic zone and installed a camera in front of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s political office in city’s Gulshan area.

It was seen during visiting Gulshan-Baridhara diplomatic zone and BNP chief’s office area.

DMP constables Mahbud Hossain and Qamrul Ahsan installed the camera at 9:30am on Sunday at the makeshift DMP media centre in front of the office of Khaleda Zia to monitor the overall situation of the area.

However, they are directly informing DMP headquarters about the situation of Khaleda’s office.

Mahbud Hossain told banglanews that the initiative has been taken to inform the DMP media centre regarding the overall situation of this area.

We use this device on special days, he added.

According to him, as the surveillance has been tightened today (Sunday) in this area, they are sending video footage of Khaleda’s office to the DMP media centre to inform them the overall situation, as a part of their security measures.

Besides, additional security measures have been taken in the roads of north and southern sides of the office. Additional police personnel, including riot police, have also been deployed. Restrictions have also been imposed on commuters in the area.

Only residents and media people are being allowed to use the road in front of Khaleda’s office.

On-duty police Sub-Inspector Shariful Islam told banglanews that the additional security measures have been taken in the diplomatic zone and Khaleda’s office area as well due to Bishwa Ijtema.

Moreover, police surveillance has also been tightened in the entrances of Gulshan and Baridhara diplomatic zones.

Law enforcers have imposed restrictions on plying vehicles including motorcycle, bicycle, rickshaw, rickshaw-van, CNG-run auto-rickshaw and covered-van in the area.

Only residents of the areas are being allowed to use their private cars after facing the security check-posts in several tires.
