HABIGANJ: A district court on Monday rejected the bail petition of GK Gaus, the suspended Habiganj municipality mayor and also a charge-sheeted accused of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case.

District and session judge Mahbub-ul-Islam passed the order at 11:30am after hearing the bail plea, placed by GK Gaus’s lawyer Manjur Uddin Ahmed Shahin.

Earlier on December 28 in 2014, the accused appeared before Habiganj senior judicial magistrate court and pleaded a bail.

However, denying the appeal, the court on the day sent him to prison.

Former finance minister Shah ASM Kibria along with four others were killed on January 27 in 2005 in a grenade attack on his way after returning from a rally in Boider Bazar area in Habiganj sadar upazila.
