2 AL leaders killed in clash over CNG fare in Sylhet A dead body being taken to the hospital

SYLHET: Two Awami League leaders were killed and nearly thirty others injured in a clash between two rival groups of the party over collecting extra fare of CNG-driven auto-rickshaw in Sylhet. 

The clash took place among the supporters of AL president Gous Mia of Boroikandi union under South Surma and supporters of AL leader and Telirkhal Union Parishad (UP) chairman of Companyganj upazila Alfu Mia.

In the clash, two leaders of Swechchasebak League and Jubo League got killed while 17 received bullet injuries at Boroikandi union under South Surma Tuesday (March 6).

The deceased were identified as Masuk Miah, Vice-President of a ward under Boroikandi Union of Swechchasebak League and Babul Miah, a Jubo League leader. 

Local sources and eye witnesses said the duo died on the spot.

An emergency department doctor of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital said the two bodies have reached the hospital, while 25 injured were admitted to it.

While contacted, cell phone of Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khairul Fazal of South Surma thana was found switched off.
